More often than not, the best place to start the design process is to consider your own experiences, likes and dislikes. For Mike, this timeless approach has delivered contest-winning, world-renowned shapes time and time again. In his classic longboard, Mike wanted speed, agility and power coupled with great trim and stability from anywhere on the board. This meant it couldn’t be too thick for maximum volume in smaller surf or too thin for higher speeds on rail and more drive in the turn. Like Goldilocks’ porridge, it needed to be just right! The Doyle longboard is a classic outline that pairs new school performance design theory with old school tried n’ true. Bottom contour carries medium concave at the nose, to single vee through the middle into double concave off the tail for added speed and drive. 60/40 downrails starting at the wide point that turn down into a hard, tucked edge at the tail create plenty of forgiveness in softer conditions while holding strong, clean lines and tight turns when it’s top to bottom and going off. If you’re looking to cover all the bases without sacrificing performance or style, the Doyle longboard is designed to deliver.
